HypnoBirthing® with The Mongan Method

"Demand the Original.......Expect the Best"

Certified HypnoBirthing® Practitioner

The Mongan Method offers Education for Childbirth with simple but specific techniques to help the mother eliminate the fear and tension that causes pain during child birth. The technique helps the mother to be more in control of the birthing process. At the same time she is able to experience the birth drug-free by using self-hypnosis whilst remaining relaxed and calm and fully aware of all sensations.

During the HypnoBirthing® course you will learn how to call upon your body's own natural epidural and thus lessen or even eliminate discomfort and the need for medication. You will find that you and your birthing companion will be properly prepared for birth .

Who started it?

Marie Mongan, M.Ed., M.Hy., of Concord, N.H. is an award-winning hypnotherapist who brings to her classroom over thirty year's experience in education and counseling on the collegiate level and in the private sector.

She is a former college dean who, early in her career, was named one of five outstanding educational leaders in New Hampshire and awarded a Ford Foundation Fellowship to Harvard University.

Marie (best known as "Mickey") is licensed by the State of New Hampshire as a counselor and is certified as a hypnotherapist, hypnoanesthesiologist, and instructor of hypnotherapy. She holds several awards for distinguished service and achievement in the field and is the 1995 recipient of the NGH President's Award. In 2000 she was presented with the coveted NGH Charles Tebbetts Award for her contribution in "shedding the light" and advancing the awareness of hypnosis. Her practice includes group and individual work in a wide spectrum of therapy applications.

Mickey is the mother of four children, all born in the late 50s and early 60s. She experienced all four labours using the techniques of Dr. Grantly Dick-Read, the pioneer in the field of natural childbirth, upon whose work Mickey has based HypnoBirthing® - The Mongan Method. Two of her birthings were entirely free of anesthesia at a time when it was unheard of. Her book, HypnoBirthing®--A Celebration of Life, was written in 1989; the expanded 3rd Edition is now available.

A Little more about HypnoBirthing®

HypnoBirthing® is based on the techniques of an English physician, Dr Grantly Dick-Read. He was a pioneer in the field of natural childbirth. HypnoBirthing® was established in the United States by Marie Mongan. Her book "HypnoBirthing® - A Celebration of Life" was first published in 1989. HypnoBirthing® is now in its sixteenth year and already widely established in the US.

The HypnoBirthing® methods are now being taught in the UK and Australia. Marilyn Boon is one of only a small number of instructors in the UK currently qualified to teach HypnoBirthing®. Marilyn in now instrumental in ‘re-introducing’ HypnoBirthing® to Australia.

HypnoBirthing® is as much a philosophy of birth as it is a technique for achieving a rewarding, relaxing and stress-free method of birthing. HypnoBirthing® teaches pregnant women and their birthing companions the art and joy of experiencing birth in a safer, more comfortable manner. They are taught how to call upon their bodies' own natural epidural and thus eliminate the need for medication. When a woman is properly prepared for childbirth and when mind and body are in harmony, nature is free to function in the same well-designed manner that it does with all other creatures.

You will be fascinated as you view videos of HypnoBirthing® showing labouring mothers, awake, alert and in good humor as they experience safe, gentle birth -- free of the Fear-Tension-Pain Syndrome.

HypnoBirthing® teaches a woman how to release all prior programming about birth, how to trust her body and work with it, as well as how to free herself of harmful emotions that lead to pain-causing fear and constricting muscles.

HypnoBirthing® teaches women the art of using their natural birthing instincts. With most births requiring little or no intervention, mothers are able to be aware and fully in control, but profoundly relaxed.

HypnoBirthing® has been featured on the Discovery Channel, BBC News, in Pregnancy and Birth (twice), Time Magazine (March 2004) and in the Daily Mail, amongst many others.
